I have chosen Carl Rogers’ Humanistic Theory of Personality for my final project. Carl Rogers, a significant figure in humanistic psychology, proposed that individuals inherently strive toward self-actualization, with experiences shaping their personality (Joseph, 2021). This theory emphasizes personal growth and self-understanding, aligning with my interest in how personality impacts mental health.

Evaluating primary sources involves scrutinizing research design, sample size, and data analysis to ensure validity, as Schweinsberg et al. (2023) indicated. Secondary sources require assessing the credibility of interpretations and comprehensiveness of the literature review (Joseph, 2021). Different evaluation criteria are essential due to primary data’s foundational nature and secondary sources’ interpretive role.

Research Methods and Impact on Research

Research methods in personality psychology include experimental, correlational, natural observation, and case studies. These methods shape the scope and interpretation of research findings.

I will use the Shapiro Library’s databases for peer-reviewed journals, books, and articles to locate necessary research materials. Using primary and secondary sources ensures a comprehensive understanding of Carl Rogers’ Humanistic Theory.
