Interview – Community Teaching Project
Role of Representative and Role of Organization
I interviewed Wendy Shiver, the chief nursing officer (CNO) at Dorminy Medical Center (DMC) – OB/GYN. Ms. Shiver, in this capacity, is responsible for managing the nursing staff and the overall quality of patient care. She is accountable for the coordination of the nursing department, formation of policies, and implementation of health care standards (Chiu et al., 2021). The mission of Dorminy Medical Center is to deliver primary health care services with an emphasis on obstetrics and gynecological services in order to improve the quality of health of the people in the community.
How this Organization Address the Issues Faced by the Community
Dorminy Medical Center meets the health needs of the community through services such as prenatal care, childbirth education, and women’s healthcare. They support families, young people, and the elderly, including those with financially and socially vulnerable statuses. It is a center of excellence that seeks to improve the delivery of health services and also address health inequities through tailored initiatives. This entails providing free health checkups, conducting health fairs and awareness campaigns, and lobbying for appropriate changes in health policies (Chiu et al., 2021). It also works with other local organizations to help meet the medical and social needs of the community, such as transport and shelter.
Feedback Received from the Representative after Reviewing the Teaching Plan
Ms. Shiver critiqued the teaching plan and offered useful feedback. Several of these, such as primary prevention and health promotion, are consistent with DMC goals and objectives. She came up with the idea of increasing the number of practice activities like workshops and question and answer sessions. Also, she suggested offering more posters and flyers to remind people of the educational material and have the information they need at their fingertips after the meetings (Hasanica et al., 2020). She also mentioned that there is a need to incorporate culturally sensitive material to reach diverse clients.
Partnership Approach in Communication
During the interview, while responding to the questions, I sized myself as working hand in hand with Ms. Shiver to advance the goal of quality patient care. I paid attention to what she said and then engaged her in a brainstorming session on how her ideas could be incorporated into the teaching plan. By listening to her opinions on the matter and telling her that we are open to the changes she has in mind as a nursing professional, we ensured the enhancement of our professional relations in an endeavor to provide a comprehensive solution (Sheehan et al., 2021), that would enhance the general health of people within a given community.

Interview – Community Teaching Project
The Community Teaching Project has indirect care experience requirements. The “Indirect Care Experience Hours” form, found in the Topic 1 Resource, will be used to document the indirect care experience hours completed in the Community Teaching Project and Presentation. As progress is made on the Community Teaching Project, update this form indicating the date(s) each section is completed. This form will be submitted in Topic 5.
In this assignment, students will interview the representative of the nonprofit organization selected for the Community Teaching Project in Topic 1. During the interview, students will review their teaching plan to obtain feedback from the representative. Interviews can take place in person, by phone, or via video conference (i.e., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Then, in a 250-500-word paper, provide a summary of the interview with the representative addressing the following items:
Describe the representative’s role within the nonprofit organization. What is the role of this nonprofit organization?
How does this organization address the issues faced by this community?
Discuss the feedback (strengths and opportunities for improvement) received from the representative after reviewing the teaching plan.
Explain how you communicated with the interviewee in a manner that facilitates a partnership approach to quality delivery.
