Substance Use Disorders Among Minorities
Contrary to what many people think, minorities are not at a higher risk of developing SUDs. Findings indicate that despite the fact that African Americans and Hispanics have a higher rate of illicit drug use than Whites, they will find it more difficult to access treatment (Burlew et al., 2021). Research shows a decrease in substance use among African American youths but high rates of imprisonment for drug-related offenses (Acevedo et al., 2019). Social determinants such as poverty and discrimination increase rates of substance use in minority groups. Alleviating these problems by implementing robust social support initiatives plays a crucial role in preventing substance use and enhancing community health. Also, culturally sensitive care delivery models are imperative to guarantee that minority groups receive appropriate healthcare (Alvarez et al., 2022).

Additionally, please find, describe, and interpret the results of a study examining the prevalence of SUDs among different populations.
